Today, I'll be interviewing Aimeé to get her hot takes on everything fashion, style and beauty!
Meet Aimeé
Aimeé is a Mexican fashion writer from Los Angeles! She has a degree in journalism and just graduated in May. She applied for many jobs but when they weren't so successful, she turned to tik tok and social media. She has been working on videos that are about fashion, relationships, and makeup. She loves to curate her instagram and tik tok page to create her personal brand!
How would you define your personal style?
-I would say my personal style is a combination of black and minimalism.
Why is fashion important to you?
-I grew up loving fashion and taught myself every fashion-related fact I know. I would read every vogue copy I could and try to imagine what career in the industry I would choose as an adult. I wanted to design clothes and constantly drew designs in my classes. I didn't know anyone else who liked high fashion so it felt like my little secret life. I got a degree in Journalism this past May and I want to use the degree to pursue fashion writing.
How do you use fashion to express yourself?
-Fashion helps me express myself by building my self-confidence. When I pick a fit and feel great about myself, that is me expressing myself. I am a shy individual so I feel that my outfits and make-up looks can help me outwardly express that.
How has your style evolved?
-I used to only wear skirts because I was scared to branch out. I felt that skirts could help me hide my curves and body and I didn't know anything else. As I started to grow more confident with age, I decided to start incorporating pants and short dresses.
Opinion on trends? Do you prefer to follow them, or do your own thing?
-I love to see what is relevant and do it in my own way. The coolest thing for me is when people wear whatever they want (trendy or not).
Who do you take fashion inspo from?
-I would say my biggest inspo are the accounts I follow on Instagram. I like to follow influencers like brendahashtag and international vogue accounts and take down references. I would also say my bookmarks on insta is my own lookbook/mood board.
Define fashion in your own words.
-Fashion is a person's identity.
What is your greatest strength in fashion?
-Knowledge! I would say that learning in fashion is power.
Favorite controversial fashion piece?
-This is such a great question. If I had to narrow it down, my favorite controversial piece is the Alexander McQueen 'Voss' collection spring/summer 2001.
How does your style influence your social media presence?
-I definitely like to portray myself as having an aesthetic of black clothes only, as I do in real life. I only wear black and sometimes, but rarely white, and I want to keep my page clean and true to me. My social media presence is the best representation of my "brand" and myself.
What advice do you have for people venturing into fashion?
-I would say that do as much research as you can. I would watch old shows on youtube, download the vogue runway app, save looks to your app, watch documentaries, and use the internet!
What do you want people to know about you after this interview?
-I would want people to know that I am a fashion girl and I am so thankful for my first fashion interview ever!
